A UK Minister is set to deliver a grave cybersecurity warning at the upcoming NATO conference.

Russia and other enemies are utilizing AI to bolster the effectiveness of their cyber-attacks against the UK government. If their warning is true, Russia is gearing up to launch a massive wave of attacks to take out the UK electricity grid.

The warning will spell out that citizens are already in an “AI arms race” against Russia. The UK is already experiencing daily cyber attacks from its foreign enemies and faces the daily realities of a cyber war.

While AI is a revolutionary tool used to bolster national security for countries like the UK and the US and countries within the EU, it can also create highly advanced malware strains and empower malware campaigns.

Recently, the US and Britain allowed Ukraine to fire Storm Shadow missiles inside Russian territory for the first time. Prior to this, Ukraine was only allowed to fire at Russian territory that they had stolen from Ukraine.

This prompted Russian President, Vladimir Putin to directly threaten those countries. Since it’s unlikely that Russia could wage a traditional war against those countries, experts believe it is gearing up for an all-out cybersecurity war.

“Russia has targeted our media, our telecoms, our political and democratic institutions, and our energy infrastructure,” cabinet minister Pat McFadden is expected to say. “With a cyber-attack, Russia can turn the lights off for millions of people. It can shut down the power grids”.

The lab will pull together world-class industry, academic, and government experts to assess the impact of AI on our national security. While AI can amplify existing cyber threats, it can also create better cyber defense tools and present opportunities for intelligence agencies to collect, analyze, and produce more useful intelligence.

Experts in the US reported that North Korea also uses AI to develop tools to create cyber attacks.
