In a recent interview with SafetyDetectives, Rainar Razumovski, the CEO and Founder of BLOCX, shared his unique journey from a young computer enthusiast to a private chef, and ultimately, to the head of a groundbreaking cybersecurity company. Inspired by his own challenges in managing multiple software solutions while mining cryptocurrency, Rainar embarked on creating BLOCX. This all-in-one suite aims to simplify and enhance user experiences in the crypto space.
With a strong team of experienced developers, BLOCX has successfully launched its MVP product and is gearing up to release a comprehensive suite of features in 2024. From malware protection to AI assistants and a decentralized messenger, BLOCX promises to offer robust and innovative solutions. Rainar’s vision and dedication are set to address some of the most pressing challenges in the cybersecurity industry today.
Can you tell us about your background and what inspired you to start BLOCX?
My background has been quite a journey. From a very young age, I became intrigued by computers and began creating my own projects. At around age 10 I started modifying source codes and clients, and hosting my own servers for different popular games like Runescape, San Andreas Multiplayer, and Counter-Strike.
Later on, school happened and became busier, eventually losing my focus on computers. I worked as a private chef for high-profile Clients. Apart from that I started to run a game development company as a side project. After a few years, I sought a complete change and decided to study law. Somewhere along the way, I made another significant shift, I resigned from being a chef, continued my game development journey, and did an internship in Software Company to polish my IT knowledge. After the internship, it was clear to me that I was back on the path I’ve always wanted
I have been involved in the crypto space since 2017, which leads me to the main reason.
The main reason or initiative for my current project came from my own user experience. While mining cryptocurrency on my own, I had to use various pieces of software such as TeamViewer, crypto wallets, GPU Afterburner, and virus protection. This meant I had to use a lot of different software solutions to accomplish one thing.
This challenge sparked the main idea and development of our suite. Our team started developing the first version in 2022, with full development beginning at the start of 2023.
Over the years, I have managed to connect with various people, especially in the IT sector. Fortunately, starting this journey and finding a suitable team was not too difficult for me.
As a new player in the market, what challenges have you faced in developing and launching BLOCX?
I can say that thanks to our excellent and brilliant team, which now consists of four different groups, we haven’t faced any significant difficulties. Our developers and leads each have around 10 years of experience in their respective fields. While there have been some tasks that have taken longer due to being developed from scratch, one of these was remote access. The complexity of handling duplicate calls from one PC to another and maintaining the connection made this particularly challenging. It took longer than anticipated, but it was nothing we couldn’t overcome.
I understand that you’re currently offering an MVP product. Can you talk about what features it has and what main benefits can users expect from the full suite of BLOCX features once it’s released?
Yes, that is very correct. Our MVP product of B. Desktop is available on Windows devices, and the next version will be the last to download manually as it will support automatic updates.
The full suite is quite comprehensive because we have thought of everything.
Here are the features users can expect:
- Malware Protection (Full Scan, Quick Scan, Custom Scan)
- Device Health (System Optimizer, Drivers Auto Update, Battery Saver, Afterburner)
- Internet Services (VPN, Safe Browser)
- AI Assistant (Chat BOT, Contract Scanner, Website Scanner, Scam Identifier)
- Marketplace (Rendering, Machine Learning, Computer Power, Custom Images)
- Remote Access
- Password Vault
- Non-Custodial Wallet
- Swap
All of this will be delivered within 2024, but most features are already available in the MVP version.
Can you explain the concept of the 100% Decentralized Messenger and how it differs from traditional end-to-end encrypted messengers?
Decentralized Messenger is truly decentralized because there is no central authority. While end-to-end encrypted messengers still have a server between them, we offer something completely new that hasn’t been seen before.
We use masternodes for connection, meaning users who operate a masternode on our network can install additional dependencies and provide connections, or as we like to call them, Connection Establishers.
Here’s how it works: When two users want to connect, they send their encrypted IP addresses to the masternodes. The masternodes exchange the IP addresses between the users and then vanish from the process After this, it’s pure peer-to-peer communication, as users can communicate directly once connected.
All the data is only saved on users’ devices unless a self-destruction message is set.
Additionally, we have features like sending crypto directly within the chat.
Remote access capabilities are becoming crucial. How does BLOCX ensure secure and seamless remote access for users?
Yes, indeed. While we currently offer an MVP solution, after our full suite is delivered, we will start advancing each component. This means we will apply different virus scanning methods and real-time scans. Additional layers will include code sniffing along with AI tools, which will help identify potentially malicious code. Anytime a file transfer occurs within the remote access, the first layer will be virus scanning. Then, the system will determine if the file might contain potentially malicious code. If it does, the transfer will not be allowed; if not, it will pass through our system and continue the transfer.
Regarding seamless user access, it is quite simple. You just need to connect to a user ID. Currently, the user ID changes after every session, but in the future, you will be able to save one ID for personal use.
What are the biggest challenges in the cybersecurity industry today, and how is BLOCX addressing them?
I believe the biggest challenge in the cybersecurity industry today, and always, has been new malicious codes There is always someone modifying code and creating new DNA viruses. This is precisely why we are adding code sniffing and AI to our suite to be able to detect as much as possible, including potentially harmful codes, and keep our users extra secure.
Users can expect these features to be available in 2025. In the meantime, they can already use our basic virus scanner, which has a good detection rate and can be compared with those available on the market. Our goal is to elevate it to the highest level possible in the coming year.
