What’s Included in McAfee’s Black Friday Deal?

McAfee has multiple Black Friday deals going on. You can get great deals on all of its plans. For example, McAfee Advanced comes with a 55% discount, For an unusually low price, you can cover an unlimited number of devices with the following features:

  • Malware scanning.
  • Real-time protection.
  • Web protection.
  • VPN (unlimited data).
  • Firewall.
  • Password manager.
  • Parental controls.
  • Optimization tools.
  • Identity theft protection.
  • And more…

Given all of its features, I think McAfee Advanced is the best deal. That said, there’s also McAfee Premium if you’re looking for a cheaper option. It’s missing identity theft coverage, security freezing, and some advanced monitoring tools, but it still comes with the firewall, VPN, and every other core security feature. You can get it now with these Black Friday deals at 67% off.

The cheapest plan, McAfee Essential, gets a 69% discount. It lacks parental controls and monitoring tools, and you’re limited to 5 devices. Still, it’s a great entry-level plan and comes with McAfee’s main features, including web protection, a VPN, and a firewall.

There’s also McAfee Ultimate, the most expensive plan. It includes transaction monitoring and ransomware coverage, plus every feature in the Advanced plan. It’s available at a 55% discount.

Regardless of which plan you choose, McAfee offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, so you can try it out risk-free.

What Key Features Does McAfee Offer?

McAfee’s antivirus suite comes with a great set of security features. First and foremost is its malware scanner, which scored a 100% malware detection rating in our tests. It combines a large malware database with advanced heuristic analysis to identify and remove advanced (and even zero-day) threats.

On top of an excellent malware scanner, McAfee includes:

  • Real-time protection.
  • Unlimited-data VPN.
  • Firewall.
  • Web protection.
  • Performance optimizer.
  • Parental controls.
  • Password manager.
  • And a lot more…

The firewall is both effective and beginner-friendly. If you’ve never used a firewall, McAfee’s is a great place to start. Basically, you can just turn it on and it will do all the work for you. Overall, it’s more powerful than built-in firewalls but lacks the depth that some advanced users will want.

McAfee’s Safe Family parental controls are also excellent — they can filter web content, block specific apps, set limits for your kid’s device usage or internet access, and track your kid’s device location. All of these features work as intended, and I was particularly impressed with the location tracking, which was super accurate and far superior to Apple and Google’s “Find my” tools.

McAfee’s VPN isn’t bad, but it does have a few drawbacks. It’s powered by TunnelBear’s VPN and maintained fast speeds during our tests, but it’s missing a few extra features like split-tunneling. It also lacks obfuscated servers, which are ideal if you’re in a restrictive country. But, if you’re just after a basic VPN it’s not a bad choice — it’s fast, secure, offers unlimited data, and has server locations in 45+ countries.

The True Key password manager provides beginner-friendly password protection. You can easily save and auto-fill passwords and store documents, secure notes, credit card info, and more in its cloud-based vault. It doesn’t have as many features as some of our top password managers (no password auditing, sharing, or multiple vaults), but it’s functional.

Overall, McAfee includes a well-rounded set of features to keep you safe online.

How Good Is McAfee at Blocking Malware and Internet Security Threats?

McAfee is one of the best antiviruses for blocking malware and other threats. Its malware scanner scored flawlessly in our tests, making it just as good as Norton (our top antivirus) in terms of baseline protection. It combines a traditional malware database with heuristic analysis to find and destroy malware in your files.

I was able to run a full scan in a little under an hour — the only drawback is that since it’s not cloud-based, it can be a bit taxing on older systems. My old laptop slowed down quite significantly when I ran my first scan. Antiviruses like Bitdefender avoid this by running in the cloud, something worth considering if you have an old computer.

Fortunately, the quick scan only took about 2 minutes and didn’t tax my system much. You can also run custom scans for specific files (these can vary from taking a few seconds to an hour depending on the files), and easily schedule scans for later.

I tested the real-time protection against every type of malware I could get my hands on. I tried downloading ransomware, trojans, worms, cryptojackers, and more. McAfee was able to detect and remove every single threat before they could deploy.

In short, McAfee does a great job at keeping users safe from cyber threats. When it comes to malware detection and removal, McAfee is effective, consistent, and comes with excellent real-time protection.

I also like McAfee’s web protection, which was significantly better at blocking online phishing sites and exploit attempts than the built-in protections included with Chrome and Firefox. McAfee will alert you if a website is unsafe prior to accessing it and provide color-coded security ratings for dangerous websites and social media links. Overall, it’s one of the best web protection tools I’ve tested.
